Why do horses always turn their behinds at you?

And wearing "masks" so you don´t see their face.
Well, to be fair. This is not the C-mask, it is fly protection for the eyes.

Well, one of them was kind enough to show it´s face.

Horses! Photographing them in summer is not that fun. You rarely get a great shot. This day I went to Trolldal, our riding school to get some horses in my files. The last one, is a beauty, don´t you think? And kind to photo shooting females.

The horses was standing in first frost with a beautiful light on them. Very unusual so I had to stop.

I finally spotted a group of fallow deer. But they are so hard to catch these days. They take of as soon as they spot a person or even a car. I had to sneak through the forest to get this shot. A moment later they were gone. They probably heard the click from the camera.

The horses are in a Nature Reserve in Julita. I has some problem in the area. There usually are about 8-10 horses and they really seem to like human company. My problem is they come too close and wants to taste my backpack. :) And too close means no shots. :( I really liked the dark grey one but it was impossible to get a good shot.

The birds was an odd pair. The only two waders I could see and they kind off paired up.
It is a juv Dunlin and a Snipe.

Well, white more or less.
I went to the riding school yesterday to see if I could find the beauty from last year. The roan colored one in the top images might be the one but I am not sure. But I wish this one did not have the fly cover on it´s head. They need them of course but it gives ME bad shots :)

The horses in the third image was in a different pasture. Maybe a km apart from the school.

I was driving in teh countryside when I spotted that little weirdlooking horse. I had to turn back to see what I actually saw. It was small even for a pony. Nor sure if I think it is cute or not. But certainly special.
The little lamb was the first one I seen this year. Had to stop and take a shot. That one IS cute.

This birch wet down last April of May. And has been like that since then. The horses seem to be in this pasture mosot of the time. It is a large area so they seem to like it.

Another trip to the horses in the Oak pasture. When I arrived a family was there. Not owners, just visitors like me. It is such a beautiful place with the lake at the back. And beautiful horsed. Very friendly ones. Sometimes a little too friendly when you are allergic to them :) Well, I can touch them as long as I don´t touch my face afterwards.

Horses in an oak pasture that is also a Nature Reserve. Oaks are important trees.
I think the hoses were related ad they looked pretty much the same. The last one came up to me and "said hallo" it had a lot of sticky greenarey in it´s mane. Should be taken care of I think.

When I first saw them I was rather far away. Thinking they would not stay at the tree when I approached I took a few shots as I liked the "dusty legs" look. They were circling the tree. And, yes, they left the tree after a little while. Maybe the dust rid them of insects?

Colors on horses

Colors on horses

This is horses behind the stables in the Fencepost in NF World HERE.
What strikes me is that the coloring on the horses is so strange. Not at all what they used to be when I way young. A "redhead" horse for one? Never seen a color like that before. Then a white horse with black mane, and a dark horse with white mane. But the Norwegian Fjord horses looks the same.
