Granite Gorge is the home of the cute rock wallaby. They are friendly and will come right up to you. You can buy little special pellets to feed them and they are most active at dusk. It is a small one that thrives on rocks. A few had young ones that was soo small when they were looking out. Small, but with sharp claws. One of us got scratches from them as they reached to grab the pellets from your hand.

  1. The Rock Wallabies are very cute and I especially like the video. You have captured a lot of scenery that is typically Australian.
I read your summary of your trip on your other blog and am impressed with the numbers of birds that you saw. It sounds fantastic and I look forward to more detail about it all. (I couldn't get google to translate for me so only had a vague idea of your trip - but I could read the names of the birds!)

  2. De är så söta! Jag gillade videon också. Ett vackert ställe att besöka.

  3. Loved the video and it was wonderful how you got so close to them. Have a great weekend.

  4. Superb images and video of wallaby.

  5. What a great video! I love the scenery and the cute wallaby.. Thank you for linking up, have a great weekend!

  6. Terrific views of the rock wallaby. Your video highlights the wonderful textures and tones of their coats too. Loved the scenes of all those rocks and water at Mareeba.

  7. Awesome critter. Great video and shots.

  8. The wallabies are so cute, I'm surprised they are so tame but I guess that's what happens when people feed animals. They look very frisky. Beautiful scenery too, so pristine.

  9. They are quite the critters!

  10. What a magical experience! A magnificent place to camp! Just beautiful. And the little rock wallabys are such delightful little animals. I'm ready to go there. :-)
