Going through old drawings I found a Critter. A Lion I draw 1959

Admiral!

At least I did see a few butterflies on my walk yesterday. Shot with my phone so not that great. The phone can take good shots but the problem is, it is hard to focus. This one was kind enough to sit still for a while.

Empty of birds. Yesterday I walked 8 km, rounded an entire lake and walked to another. 

There are usually mute swans, mallards, geese and cormorants swimming there. Yesterday it was totally empty. Not a single bird swimming. I did see and hear two Eurasian wrens (gärsmyg) but was unable to get any shot. I also saw two young wagtails. That´s all! And I was out for 3h.

This summer I have not seen, not even one, mallard chick! And adults are very few. 

They say we have birdflue going on here. But, this empty?? It´s devastating. 

And, I don´t have the car anymore but.......My boots are made for walking!

We had a few days of really hot weather. Now that has changed. It is not that hot anymore but still warm and now rain made the air humid. Which I am not that fond of. I like to have dry skin, not sweaty. 

For now the fire warnings have stoped. That´s a good thing.

Not much fun anymore

Going for nature walks is not that fun anymore. Butterflies and dragonflies are still around but in much lower numbers. 

Black-headed Gull & Common gull - Skrattmås & Fiskmås

Gulls seem to do just fine so far, at least in this little lake. In other places the lakes are empty of birds. 

The forests are cut down rapidly so the images above will be, mayby already is, totally empty of standing trees. 

There are two problems, the bugs and the environmental problems. With the dissappearing of the forest the animals also dissappears. I have not seen deers lately. Wich is strange. And the lakes are empty except for a few gulls. 

I think from now on it will be more fun to post critters from my travelling days.

In the pond a lone gadwall and a mallard pair

Not much wildlife over here anymore so I started to search my tavelling days for them 

This is a butterfly from Costa Rica

An osprey!  This one obviously tells a story and I remeber it well. 

I took this image 110812. I was quite new at birding at the time. It is from a location close to my town. I was at a pond, hiding beside a ditch and high reed. Over looking the lake ready with the camera. Then a huge noice scared me and I saw this huge bird right over my face. Instinctly I aimed the camera and actually got a shot. This was the only one as I fell on my back in the process.
