I was driving on a small country road when I suddenly noticed some small ones at the side. One adult tock to the air and shouted to the newly hatched ones to be careful. They did not understand much so they walked around until I got too close then they hid themselves. I would not be surprised if they were hatches the very same day. I was glad there was no traffic so I could get out of the car.
I did not get any good shots of the actual parents at this time so those images are a week older. Large feet and head for such timy creatures.

This made my day! Only ones before I have seen young lapwings and they were much older then these ones.

  1. wow those wings are big. It's good it was a quiet road, I feel for those birds that try to cross and get run over.

  12. Okay, re-attempting to comment. The chicks are adorable, but I was also much impressed with the amount of colour the first two birds have on their wings! Beautiful!
