The day before New Years Eve we got some sluch coming down. Kind of beautiful here and there but also wet, wet, wet and muddy all over the place.

Banded demoiselle, males
This morning I posted this image on Instagram. This evening I watched a tv-program about dragonflies and their world. At the end of the show this behaviour was explained. It is two males fighting for territory. Who is the strongest one?

A sidenote!
On the news today I learned that due to Corona there had been a much lower number of people killed in traffic last year! As they say, bad things also bring good things.
Happy New Year everyone!

ReplyDeleteGreat dew drop shots but the pop of blue on the dragonfly is spectacular.

Happy and Healthy New Year! I saw many damsel dragonflies in our summer months--their wings are so pretty.
ReplyDeleteMonica - lovely photos with the water droplets ... and so fascinating to see the dragonflies in flight! Thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday!
ReplyDeleteCreative collages and wonderful views of nature. A great way to start my day.
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteBeautiful captures of the droplets and dragonflies. We drove our car a lot less in 2020, our insurance gave us a credit. Take care, stay safe! Have a happy new week!
I love the dragonflies photos! They are so pretty and dainty. And you captured the water droplets perfectly! Happy new year!

Your words under the first collage also perfectly describe our days here so far this month . I can find some beauty in nature , if Im willing to brave the wet cold drizzle. .... your damsel photos are beautiful .... what good timing to see the TV show explaining their behavior on the same day you saw it yourself. Thank you for sharing that information !
ReplyDeleteLOVELY :)
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Wishes.
All the best Jan
Even icky weather can give you some wonderful photos! Love them a lot. How interesting that you caught the 'fight' with your camera :)
