First time I was able to capture coot chicks in the nest. The chicks in the nest seem to be newly hatched, they are still wet. Not fluffy as the swimming one. I don´t think they are cute, but I find them charming.

  1. This is a great series of images. Any capture of adults and young at the nest is an achievement and since baby coots leave the nest shortly after hatching you have done especially well.

  7. We have the same species here - and the chicks are not really any better looking! Funny birds to watch.

  9. These are wonderful photos Monica -- Though i see coots pretty often, I have only seen the babies swimming and that only once -- it's a miracle to find the nest! Thank you for sharing.
