Continuing my post from last week, the Crane Dance, at Hornborga lake

Of course there are more animals in the area.

As you can see I had a little artfun with it.

Going through the files from Hornborga I also found these beauties.

Its crane time

This time of year the cranes comes up from the continent.

This is a place called Hornborgasjön that I visited 130405-6. Most years thousands of cranes stop here to feed before they continue further north. They stop here as they know there will be food for them.

It started many years ago when lhe local farmers got too angry as the cranes eat their crop. So, they started to feed them themselves to keep them away from the fields. Today this is the largest event for birders to visit and the news always keep track on the number of cranes visiting.

It is good for turist business. We call it The Crane dance!

This year it was snowstorm in Europe so the cranes was unable to fly north. They stayed in Germany waiting for better flying conditions. That is why the images have quite few cranes. At the time we were sad about that. But seeing my photos I was quite happy. Normally the fields are just grey of cranes. Nothing fun for a photo. But here is a great mix of cranes, mute swans, whooper swans, several geese and other birds.
