Seems hard to believe when you consider modern gas stations, but I remember these small, privately owned locations.
ReplyDeleteThis is before my time :) but we used to drive by an out-of-service garage, when we first moved here, that had a pump just like that one. It eventuall disappeared, so we think it was sold to a collector. Nice little area for a stop.
ReplyDeleteI remember when we went on a road trip around Wales, probably 20 years ago. We came across a garage like that in full working order. The proprietor even filled our fuel tank like they used to before everything became self service.
ReplyDeleteOld gas stations are charming and have character.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos, Monica.
Lovely to see these photographs.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyable to visit outdoor museums.
All the best Jan
