It was a tricky one as they were very close to me sitting on the lawn. But I got both shots and a video. You see it below!
The ladies don´t seem to bother.

I guess they were fighting over the ladies, I hope neither one was injured.

Hello Monica,:=) Wow, They are really going for it! They usually fight over female ducks or perhaps food, but I haven't seen this behaviour myself. Grat photos, and video.
ReplyDeleteThat was serious conflict. I am glad they finally broke it off.
ReplyDeleteOh my! They are serious aren't they! How interesting to get to see this.
ReplyDeleteWell captured. The males can be quite aggressive.

What a beautiful video.
ReplyDeleteThe males can be quite aggressive.
Fortunately, they let go of each other so that they were free.
Greetings Irma
Monica - I don't think I have ever seen male mallards fighting like this. Pretty intense! Thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday!
ReplyDeleteI've never seen them fight funnily enough, I'm use to seagulls scrapping with each other
ReplyDeleteMallards are such colourful birds. - Margy
ReplyDeleteI've seen them fight over a female. Then they won't leave her alone. They get rough.
ReplyDeleteThey do fight over the ladies. Great captures. Wow.
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining the Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Wordless Wednesday. ♥
wow- do they fight over the females all year round? Quite the kerfuffle and I am glad one finally waved the white flag!
ReplyDeleteThose mallards can get quite stroppy! The more dominant one always makes me laugh when he runs along the ground after the other one with his head down. Not sure if it is concentration or to try and look scary.
ReplyDeleteYes, the males protect the females!
ReplyDeletethanks!
