This weeks nature mosaic

Top row, my lipstick flower and a wild flower, not sure wich.
Bottom row: The butterfly is an Orange underwing and the bird a White wagtail.
Both first sightings this year.

The forest ants got in touble when the forest was cut down due to being infected by
European spruce bark beetle. The forest workers obviously tried to save the ant hill. But it is nevertheless quite damaged. I have followed these ants for many years. I hope they survive, they are important to the forest.

  1. I've just seen your previous post about the trees being cut down, one of the pictures being included in your second mosaic here. That is such a shame, I do hope the ants survive.

Your first mosaic is beautiful, the colours wonderful.

Wishing you a happy week ahead.

    All the best Jan

  2. Monica - that lipstick flower is so interesting and stunning! It is new to me, and I am glad to make its acquaintance! I am pretty sure that those ants will survive despite the disruption. Thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday!

  4. It is sad to see this level of destruction in the forest, however necessary it may be. I too earnestly hope that the ants survive to carry out their vital role in the ecosystem.

  5. The little butterfly is very pretty and it's neat to look up close and see the tiniest of critters. I hope the land heals and is beautiful again!

  6. I love that lipstick flower, will have to find out more about it. I think ants are pretty adaptable...living through floods and fires to continue their work, so I have hopes these little guys will survive as well.

  9. Great collage of photos. I've never seen a lipstick plant, but the color is spot on.
