Birch Trees in the mountain range of Sweden

In June 2011 I visited the mountain range at Storulvån in the northern part of Sweden. It was a birding trip and we were looking for birds in marshes and mountains. Hard work but fun.
I´ve been meaning to post the images of Birch trees growing up north but never  got around to do it. Now it´s the time. I love Birch and this gnarled trees is wonderful. It´s how they adapt to high altitude and lots of cold and snow.  Where I live they are  tall, straight and slim.

  7. Like people when life is rough we get gnarly ... these are wonderful birch trees. Mine too (in my last house) were staight and tall. Sounds like a wonderful birding trip that captured some awesome trees. This is fun, Monica ...
