Greek inspired with filter "color pencil" added

The Art for DAM this week is black and white as that is the oprional challenge given for this edition.

Today I refuse to share the original shot as it is sooo lousy! I really only took a test shot in my bookshelf. With that said I can reveal I created the first image in Adobe Camera Raw. About a year ago I found a tricky way to create this kind of images. The only back draw is that the images becomes small in size as I use the "print screen" to capture it. For the second image I added the filter "colored pencil" in PS CS5.

  1. Both are interesting effects!! I can't say as I like either of them, but then, sometimes you are learning on the stuff you don't care whether it survives...

  4. The colored pencil filter is a curious filter ... it can completely obscure your photo or it can turn it into a beautiful artistic piece, like it did here. Perhaps, given the first interesting first oicture, it was a given :) Nice, Monica ...

  5. I've never had much luck with the colored pencil filter, so I'm impressed by what you got out of it.

I found a site on which I can get a great colored pencil effect, but you can use only a very small image (less than 2 MB) so the dimensions have to be quite small on the image you choose (maybe about 1000 pixels in width.)

You can find it here: http://www.picturetopeople.org/easy-online-photo-editor.html
The "Detailed Pencil Drawing" filter under "Colorful Drawing Effects" is the one that worked for me. If you want black and white, the "Photo Drawing Effects" may work. There are lots of other choices. Some of the filters work well on certain images, but not others.

You have to click on the icon of the effect you want, then go to the bottom of the page and click on choose file. Then you can choose one of the 2 options at the lower right. I haven't used it for a while, but I seem to remember it works very slowly.

Per your comment on my post:
I did have a link to DAM on my post, I just had the wrong icon, but the icon was not a link to anywhere. I removed the icon, but left the link, which was correct.

  6. Oh, I love both of these! I think my favourite is the second, though - it's a little more abstract, which I like!
