Today I take you to Queensland, Australia. This part of the country is the land of opposites. At one season it burns and half a year later it floods. We did see this kind of burnt forest a lot in the north part of Queensland. And where there was dried streams there were signs of warning for flooding. The locals held the cattle in the forest to roam free as they wanted. There was obviously food enough for them to get by.

  1. Australia is a land of contrasts and forest fire is always dangerous. Your photo are excellent, in a situation in which the animals are, however, able tope..

  5. We have a lot of forest burning in the western part of the U. S. but where I live we seldom get a fire like that. That picture of the stump is very sad but also a reminder.

  6. I see a big bear or some kind of creature in your stump and free range cattle is better than sticking them in a barn and feeding them GMO's (Genetically Modified Organisms) and hormones ... good for the cows in Australia ... sorry about the fires and floods though. You think our planet is trying to tell us something? My goodness, I have politics on the brain today ... sorry :)

  7. Our park district burns the undergrowth periodically to encourage more growth...so some fires do good as long as they are controlled♪ http://lauriekazmierczak.com/spikey-sentinel/

  11. Mostly they control burn however when they decided to stop doing that to the national park area and not letting cattle graze there they've been having a lot more trouble with uncontrolled burns which are hotter and dangerous. The controlled burn is something picked up from Aboriginal culture that helps the area be cleaned up and regenerate. There hasn't been much flooding up here this year ... the wet season was lacking but it is raining now.
