Andmat - Lemna Minor - Common Duckweed , NF Photo 120813

This is actually water. A small waterpool in the forest. Covered with tiny green leaves we call Andmat or in english Duckweed. Lovely greenary and shadows here. :) And a dragonfly, but it did not want to be photographed.

  5. Duckweed is interesting -- the first we ever saw it was in Louisiana and there were alligators (also our first at that time) hiding in it. We took an airboat ride through the bayous (swamps) and were amazed that the driver knew how to navigate through it.

Nice picture!! Dragonflies never want their picture taken by me!

  6. The duckweed may be "common," but the shadows are uncommonly beautiful!

  13. Great shadow shot.
One of our local lakes has a hiking trail through the woods and along its path there is an area much like the one in your photo. At first glance it appears to be thick grass, but is water covered with a moss like grass. It too often has an abundance of butterflies and dragonflies.
    Happy Sunday!

  16. What a beautiful sight. The branches look like they are dancing. Today we passed a cow pond covered in green algae, but it certainly did not look anything like this. It was yucky...this is gorgeous. genie
